Are you or someone you know about to leave care? Want to be ready to live independently? The new Getting Ready Project website offers a wealth of resources to assist with this important transition.

The Getting Ready Project compliments the Welsh government’s ‘When I am ready scheme,’ supporting care experienced young people who are transitioning from care to independent living.

The project offers a range of services, including:

  • One-off workshops for young people about specific issues like CV building, education, employment, money management and housing options and rights.
  • One-off professional workshop around financial difficulties, trauma informed approaches and support for care experienced young people.
  • Helping you know your rights and entitlements when planning to leave care, including helping you be money ready.
  • Supporting you into employment, education, entering a new area and support when you first move out.

A key feature of the project is the development of comprehensive resources designed to enhance care experienced young people’s knowledge and understanding of their rights and entitlements as they prepare to leave care.

To make these resources easily accessible, we have recently launched the official Getting Ready Project website, which you can visit using the link below:

The website is accessible to all young people and can be specific to each local authority.

If you work within a local authority and are interested in having your own section of resources, then please contact us at: gettingready@childreninwales.org.uk
