The Welsh Government basic income pilot is underway and focuses on care leavers who reach their 18th birthday in a 12-month period between 1 July 2022 and 30th June 2023. The pilot will run for a minimum of three years with each member receiving a basic income payment for a duration of 24 months from the month after their 18th birthday.
The basic income pilot Padlet has been created by Children in Wales getting ready project which is partnered with Voices From Care Cymru who help young people get ready for independence. The Padlet provides information to help those who have been taking part in the basic income pilot.
The aim of this Padlet is to help those participating in the basic income pilot to manage finances and navigate life after the pilot comes to end. It provides information that can help with applying for universal credit or other benefits they may be entitled to. The Padlet contains useful information on how to budget, understanding credit scores and how to build a good credit score, how to keep safe online, balance diet and signpost to places for training and apprenticeships. There are also links to support wellbeing sites and how to manage stress.
