The Getting Ready project, delivered by Children in Wales and Voices from Care Cymru, is supported by funding from the Welsh Government’s Suitable Provision and Support Innovation Fund.

In partnership with Flintshire County Council and care-experienced young people, the project aims to empower young people by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of their rights and entitlements as they prepare to leave care.

The new Flintshire Padlet provides a wealth of online resources to help care leavers transition safely from care. These include:

  • Money and banking (budgeting, financial support, saving, child trust funds, and ISAs)
  • Benefit entitlements (e.g., setting-up allowances available in Flintshire)
  • Housing
  • Managing household bills
  • Planning for university and further education
  • Employment support
  • Pregnancy and young parent support
  • Transport and travel
  • Food shopping guidance

Mirium, Personal Advisor at Flintshire County Council said:

“This Padlet is a fantastic resource for both young people and us as staff. Bethan and the team have been incredible in their support in developing this Padlet and the fact it is co-created with young people makes it even more special and a project that is hugely appreciated by young people.’’
