The Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services has confirmed the Holiday Hunger Scheme will return with additional funding after a trial last year. The Holiday Hunger Playworks Pilot provided food provisions in areas with the highest level of deprivation, including Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wrexham and Bridgend. The 2019 pilot provided over 13,000 meals across 98 sites during the school summer and October half term. This year the scheme will run from Easter 2020 to February half term 2021, and with the increased funding from £100,000 to £1million, it's hoped that tens of thousands more children will be fed.
Funding will be offered to all local authorities in Wales.
