LGBTQ+ Pride Month: Pride and Prejudice
June is LGBTQ+ Pride month, and to celebrate we have planned a number of activities. on 28 June our training team will be holding a course entitled Pride and Prejudice: supporting LGBTQ+ Young People.
Young people from the Youth Voice Network have continued to receive recognition and praise for their campaigns encouraging engagement with the democratic process.
Following the launch of the Youth Voice Network podcast at the Roundtable Discussion Event held at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay in March—an event sponsored by Sioned Williams MS and attended by Jayne Bryant MS, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government—the young attendees were both surprised and delighted to receive letters from the Cabinet Secretary.
These personal letters thanked the young people for attending the event and praised both the podcast and their powerful delivery of messages on how young people can get involved and make their voices heard. The Minister also shared that she would be encouraging other Senedd Members to listen to the podcast, and urged the young people to continue inspiring others, of all ages, to engage with democracy.
In a related initiative, members of the Youth Voice Network created graffiti-style artwork to promote the message: “My Voice, My Vote.” On Wednesday, 16 April, they brought this message to the Senedd, where the artwork was proudly displayed both inside and outside the building during a photoshoot.
More information about these projects can be found here.
