Substance Misuse: Models for intervention

One-day course This training program will examine the challenges faced by young individuals struggling with substance misuse. It will cover various philosophies related to substance misuse, strategies for engaging with young people, and different treatment methodologies. Key topics will include harm reduction, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and techniques for achieving abstinence. Participants will enhance their competencies in working with young individuals affected by substance misuse. The objectives include an increased understanding of substance misuse, effective engagement strategies, philosophical perspectives on substance misuse, support methods for young people, treatment approaches and their outcomes, as well as the Gillick and Fraser Guidelines. This course is designed for frontline practitioners seeking to acquire the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to more effectively assist young people dealing with substance misuse.
