Teenage Development: How to engage them and their brains

One-day course This course explores the developmental stages of adolescence, focusing on physical, psychological, emotional, and social growth. It addresses various challenges faced by teenagers and emphasises how this knowledge can enhance engagement and effective support for young individuals. The objectives include gaining a deeper insight into intellectual and social-emotional development stages. Participants will learn effective communication strategies for interacting with teenagers, fostering relationships, and establishing trust. The course will also cover negotiation skills and boundary-setting. Additionally, it will address stressors such as peer pressure, sexual relationships, substance abuse, bullying, trauma, and methods to encourage independence and resilience. This course is designed for practitioners who work with adolescents and seek to understand the neurological underpinnings of teenage behaviour.
