Appropriate touch with children: Developing an effective policy

One-day course Ensuring the safety of children from sexual abuse involves engaging with them solely through appropriate physical interactions and educating them about the distinctions between acceptable and unacceptable touch. Children equipped with knowledge about appropriate and inappropriate touches are more capable of safeguarding themselves. This training will provide guidance on how to interact with children in a suitable manner and instruct them on recognising appropriate touch. The foundational principles include a focus on the child rather than the staff, prioritisation of child protection, commitment to transparency, the necessity of supervision, diligent record keeping, adherence to anti-bias practices, and compliance with legal standards. This course is designed for individuals engaged in child-related professions who wish to reflect on their own practices as well as those within their workplace. Participants will have the opportunity to reassess current methodologies, evaluate their effectiveness, and exchange ideas and best practices.
