Disguised Compliance and Uncooperative Adults/Carers

One-day course This interactive course will look at the issues of stress, anxiety and uncertainty practitioners’ face when supporting children whose parents/carers are not cooperating with the services who are attempting to assess, plan and provide support. The focus will be on understanding why families may not want to engage with particular services, including their previous experiences of interventions. Issues of disguised compliance will be explored using examples from Serious Case Reviews and ‘real life’ indicators of how adult carers interacted with practitioners. The course will apply a child rights approach to any interventions in families, with the importance of keeping the safety and wellbeing of children at the heart of the work.
